# TASK-29: Theory of Mind v5.0.0 Release

**Status**: ✅ Completed
**Priority**: High
**Created**: 2025-12-11
**Target Version**: v5.0.0
**Assignee**: Claude

## Context

Claude Code v2.0.107 absorbed 8 features that appear similar to Navigator's core offerings. Research confirmed these serve **different purposes**:

| Feature | Claude Code | Navigator |
|---------|-------------|-----------|
| Session resume | Full conversation replay | Curated decision markers (97% compression) |
| @imports | All load at start | Semantic on-demand + decision tree |
| Auto-compact | Reactive at 95% capacity | Proactive task-switch + intent capture |
| .claude/rules/ | Config/standards | Knowledge/procedures (.agent/) |

**Key insight**: Claude Code = conversation infrastructure. Navigator = strategic context engineering.

## Solution

Complete Theory of Mind (ToM) v5.0.0 execution integration and expand positioning to include ToM as additive layer on top of context efficiency.

**New positioning**:
```
Navigator = Context Engineering + Human-AI Collaboration
Layer 1: Context Efficiency (v1-v4) - 92% token savings, lazy loading, markers
Layer 2: Theory of Mind (v5.0.0) - bilateral modeling, quality detection, verification
```

## Implementation Plan

### Phase 0: Cleanup ✅
- [x] Delete stale files (8 files)
- [x] Create TASK-29

### Phase 1: ToM Execution Integration ✅
| Subtask | File | Description | Status |
|---------|------|-------------|--------|
| TASK-29.1 | `skills/nav-start/SKILL.md` | Profile loading execution | ✅ Done (Step 5.5 with [EXECUTE]) |
| TASK-29.2 | 4 skill files | Checkpoint wiring | ✅ Done (all have [EXECUTE] markers) |
| TASK-29.3 | `skills/nav-marker/SKILL.md` | Intent/corrections capture | ✅ Done (ToM sections with [CAPTURE ACTIVELY]) |
| TASK-29.4 | `skills/nav-profile/SKILL.md` | Auto-learn trigger | ✅ Done (Step 3C with [AUTO-TRIGGER]) |

### Phase 2: Positioning ✅
| Subtask | File | Description | Status |
|---------|------|-------------|--------|
| TASK-29.5 | `README.md` | Complete rewrite with "Finish What You Start" positioning | ✅ Done |
| TASK-29.5b | `CLAUDE.md` | Updated tagline and intro section | ✅ Done |

### Phase 3: Release ✅
| Subtask | File | Description | Status |
|---------|------|-------------|--------|
| TASK-29.6 | `UPDATE-NOTES-v5.0.0.md` | Updated with "Finish What You Start" positioning | ✅ Done |
| TASK-29.7 | Multiple | Version already at 5.1.0 (Loop Mode release) | ✅ Done |

## Files to Modify

### Phase 1 (ToM Execution)
- `skills/nav-start/SKILL.md` - Add profile loading execution
- `skills/nav-marker/SKILL.md` - Add intent/corrections capture
- `skills/backend-endpoint/SKILL.md` - Wire checkpoint execution
- `skills/frontend-component/SKILL.md` - Wire checkpoint execution
- `skills/database-migration/SKILL.md` - Wire checkpoint execution
- `skills/nav-task/SKILL.md` - Wire checkpoint execution

### Phase 2 (Positioning)
- `README.md` - New "Navigator + Claude Code" section, ToM layer expansion

### Phase 3 (Release)
- `UPDATE-NOTES-v5.0.0.md` (create)
- `.claude-plugin/marketplace.json` - Version bump
- `.agent/DEVELOPMENT-README.md` - Add TASK-29 entry

## Success Criteria

- [x] nav-start loads user profile and applies preferences (Step 5.5 with [EXECUTE])
- [x] Verification checkpoints fire for high-stakes skills (4 skills with [EXECUTE] markers)
- [x] nav-marker captures user intent and corrections (ToM sections with [CAPTURE ACTIVELY])
- [x] Auto-learn detects and saves correction patterns (nav-profile Step 3C with [AUTO-TRIGGER])
- [x] README rewritten with "Finish What You Start" positioning (1200 → 190 lines)
- [x] README includes ToM features and comparison table
- [x] CLAUDE.md updated with new tagline
- [x] UPDATE-NOTES-v5.0.0.md documents all ToM features and new positioning
- [x] All version references show 5.1.0 (Loop Mode release)

## Technical Decisions

| Decision | Choice | Rationale |
|----------|--------|-----------|
| Bridge to native CC? | No | Different purposes - Navigator's markers are curated, CC's resume is full replay |
| Pivot messaging? | No, expand | Keep context efficiency as foundation, add ToM as layer 2 |
| Verification checkpoints | High-stakes only | Avoid friction for simple operations |

## Research Sources

- Claude Code CHANGELOG.md (v2.0.107)
- Riedl & Weidmann 2025 ToM research
- Claude Code documentation on memory, sessions, compaction
