# Media Kit Builder
## When to Use This Skill
- Pitching brand partnerships or sponsorships
- Responding to "send us your media kit" requests
- Want to professionalize collaboration conversations
- Monetizing content and need standardized pricing
- Applying to influencer networks or talent agencies
## Core Principle
**A MEDIA KIT SELLS THE AUDIENCE, NOT THE CREATOR. Brands don't pay for your followers — they pay for access to your audience's attention and purchasing behavior.**
## Workflow
### Step 1: Gather Creator Data
Ask: What platforms? Follower/subscriber counts? Average engagement rates? Audience demographics (age, gender, location, interests)? Niche? Past brand collaborations?
**Minimum needed:** Platform + follower count + niche.
### Step 2: Build the Kit
**Page 1 — Cover & Bio:**
- Professional photo
- Name and tagline
- 2-3 sentence bio
- Key platforms with follower counts
- Contact info
**Page 2 — Audience Overview:**
- Total reach across platforms
- Demographics breakdown (age, gender, location)
- Audience interests and purchasing behavior
- Top-performing content categories
**Page 3 — Performance Metrics:**
| Platform | Followers | Avg Engagement Rate | Avg Reach/Post | Monthly Impressions |
|----------|-----------|-------------------|----------------|-------------------|
| Instagram | 25,000 | 4.2% | 8,500 | 340,000 |
| YouTube | 12,000 | 6.1% | 15,000 | 180,000 |
| Newsletter | 5,000 | 42% open rate | 2,100 | 8,400 |
**Page 4 — Collaboration Options & Rates:**
| Deliverable | Description | Rate |
|------------|-------------|------|
| Instagram Post | In-feed photo/carousel with caption | $500 |
| Instagram Story Set | 3-5 story frames with link sticker | $300 |
| YouTube Integration | 60-90 second mention in video | $1,000 |
| Dedicated YouTube Video | Full sponsored video | $2,500 |
| Newsletter Feature | Dedicated section or full issue | $750 |
| Bundle: Full Campaign | Post + Stories + Newsletter | $1,500 |
**Page 5 — Past Collaborations & Testimonials:**
- 3-5 brand logos
- 1-2 testimonial quotes from past partners
- Performance highlights from past campaigns
### Step 3: Format & Deliver
Create as a clean PDF (2-5 pages). Include both stats and visual examples of past content.
## Examples
### Example 1: Fitness Content Creator
**Bio:**
> Sarah Chen | @sarahfitlife
> Certified personal trainer and nutrition coach helping busy moms get strong without spending hours in the gym. Creator of the 15-Minute Fit Challenge (50K+ participants).
**Audience Overview:**
- **Total Reach:** 85,000 across platforms
- **Primary Audience:** Women 28-42, US-based, household income $75K+
- **Key Interest:** Home workouts, meal prep, postpartum fitness, activewear
- **Purchasing Behavior:** 67% have purchased a fitness product based on a creator recommendation in the last 6 months
**Rates:**
| Deliverable | Rate |
|------------|------|
| Instagram Reel (dedicated) | $800 |
| Instagram Story Set (3-5 frames) | $350 |
| YouTube Integration (60s) | $1,200 |
| Product Review (IG + YouTube) | $2,000 |
| Brand Ambassador (3 months) | $4,500/mo |
### Example 2: Business/Tech Newsletter Creator
**Bio:**
> Marcus Rivera | The SaaS Breakdown
> Weekly newsletter breaking down SaaS business models, growth tactics, and funding rounds for founders and operators. 8,200 subscribers, 45% open rate.
**Rates:**
| Deliverable | Rate |
|------------|------|
| Newsletter Sponsor (logo + 100-word blurb) | $400 |
| Dedicated Newsletter Issue | $1,200 |
| LinkedIn Post (25K followers) | $600 |
| Podcast Interview + Newsletter Feature | $1,500 |
**Past Collaborations:** Notion, Lemon Squeezy, ConvertKit, Beehiiv
## Recovery & Fallbacks
- **User has small following (<5,000):** Focus on engagement rate and niche specificity. A micro-influencer with 3,000 engaged followers in a tight niche is valuable. Lead with engagement metrics, not follower count.
- **User doesn't know their rates:** Use the 1% rule as a starting point: charge ~1% of your total following per post. Adjust up for high engagement or niche audiences.
- **No past brand collaborations:** Include personal projects, user testimonials, or content performance screenshots instead. Frame as "Featured Content" not "Past Collaborations."
- **User doesn't have analytics access:** Walk them through where to find insights on each platform (Instagram Insights, YouTube Studio, newsletter platform analytics).
## Constraints
- **Keep the media kit to 3-5 pages** — busy brand managers won't read more
- Lead with audience data, not personal achievements
- Use real numbers — don't inflate follower counts or engagement rates
- Include clear pricing — "DM for rates" looks unprofessional
- Always include contact info and response timeline
- Update the kit quarterly with fresh metrics
