### Core Diagnosis Categories
Le Corbusier identified four essential functions of the city. Assess each:
#### 1. Dwelling (Habiter)
**Principle:** Every resident has the right to sun, space, and greenery. Housing must provide light, air, and views.
**Diagnostic Questions:**
- Do all dwellings receive direct sunlight?
- What is the floor area per person?
- Do residents have access to private and communal outdoor space?
- Are dwellings oriented for optimal light and ventilation?
- Is density achieved vertically (towers in park) or horizontally (sprawl and congestion)?

- Do workers have access to sun, air, and recreation near their workplace?

- Commutes exceeding 30 minutes
- Workplaces without daylight or ventilation
- No recreational space for workers
#### 3. Recreation (Se Recreer)
**Principle:** Cities must provide abundant green space, sports facilities, and leisure opportunities accessible to all.
**Diagnostic Questions:**
- What percentage of land is parkland or green space?
- Are parks distributed equitably across the city?
- Can residents walk to green space within 10 minutes?
- Are sports facilities, playgrounds, and cultural venues accessible?
- Is the ground level reserved for pedestrians and recreation?
**Symptoms of Failure:**
- Less than 20% green space
- Parks concentrated in wealthy areas only
- Ground level dominated by cars and commerce
- No sports facilities or playgrounds
- Recreation requires automobile travel
#### 4. Circulation (Circuler)
**Principle:** Traffic must be separated by type and speed. Pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles should not compete for the same space.
**Diagnostic Questions:**
- Are pedestrians separated from vehicle traffic?
- Is traffic stratified by speed (local, arterial, express)?
- Can pedestrians walk continuously through the city without crossing vehicle streams?
- Are parking and loading separated from living and walking areas?
- Does traffic flow efficiently or congest at mixed-use intersections?
