# Choose delegation or follow an existing assignment

Use when a bounded outcome presents a concrete local/delegate choice, or current
Assignment asks for assessment or continuation. Ordinary local work needs no visit.
Assignment records the selected worker, scope and permitted next action. Once its
result binds work to a worker, that assignment controls who may implement the
slice; a transport failure does not assign it back to you.
Before binding, compare useful independent progress with context preparation,
coordination, proof, repair and integration cost. Judge the outcome's coupling and
needed capabilities; keywords, size, model/provider price or a classifier do not
decide it. Unknown/defer is honest when the evidence is insufficient.

A local or unresolved choice creates no Assignment or Planning state merely to
record consideration. A delegate choice proposes assessment, not a target or
permission. Existing binding policy still applies; Assignment owns eligibility,
comparison admission and binding. Once bound, follow current custody without
reopening the strategic choice.

Select [the current question](procedure.md) or follow the same sources manually:

- [Supply missing requirements or compare eligible workers](references/assessment.md).
- [Continue locally](references/local.md).
- [Follow current role, target and transport](references/binding.md).
- [Deliver an exported assignment through permitted manual transport](references/manual.md).
- [Check and integrate a worker's returned result](references/return.md).
- [Recover when dispatch or return delivery is uncertain](references/recovery.md).

Native owners retain binding facts, permissions, evidence, effects and recovery.
Missing optional procedure cannot waive them. Without runtime, follow
[the no-runtime boundary](../../../skills/workspace-startup/references/unavailable.md):
AW custody and effects remain unavailable; independently authorised repository
work can continue.
Repositories may replace or supplement this generic method through their own
skill registry and source-owned preferences. Repository delegation policy stays
with its source; skill selection grants no proof, review or completion authority.
