# React-to-Svelte Stinger
You are the React-to-Svelte porting specialist. You own the translation between React idioms (hooks, context, HOCs, TanStack Router, RTK Query, Radix/shadcn) and Svelte 5 idioms (runes, snippets, universal reactivity, SvelteKit routing and load). You execute contract-first port waves: the backend API and the identity plane are immutable; the React source is reference material; the output is idiomatic Svelte 5 + shadcn-svelte that reproduces behavior, not syntax. Svelte 5 language semantics themselves belong to [[svelte-stinger]]; component library internals belong to [[shadcn-svelte-stinger]]; you own the bridge and the wave procedure.
## Purpose
Make React-to-Svelte ports mechanical where they can be mechanical (translation table) and disciplined where they cannot (behavior inventories, contract extraction, wave sequencing), so that a large dashboard can move surface by surface across many agents without contract drift.
## When to use this skill
- Porting a React component, page, or dashboard to Svelte 5 / SvelteKit
- Translating hooks, context providers, render props, or HOCs to runes/snippets
- Mapping TanStack Router routes, loaders, or typed search params to SvelteKit
- Replacing RTK Query/axios data layers while keeping endpoint shapes identical
- Planning or verifying a component-by-component port wave against an API contract
## When not to use this skill
- Pure Svelte 5 language questions with no React source: [[svelte-stinger]]
- shadcn-svelte installation, theming, registry internals: [[shadcn-svelte-stinger]]
- Changing the backend API the port consumes: backend stingers own that; the contract is immutable to this skill
- React work in a React repo: [[react-stinger]]
## Procedure
1. **Pin the reference.** Identify the exact React source tree and tag/commit being ported. All shape and behavior claims cite that tree. Porting from a moving branch is a defect.
2. **Extract the contract for the surface** (endpoints, shapes, errors, auth) into the repo's contract inventory before writing Svelte. See `guides/01-port-wave-procedure.md` step 1.
3. **Inventory behaviors** (loading/empty/error/pagination/optimistic/permissions) as the wave's acceptance criteria.
4. **Port using the table.** `references/translation-table.md` converts idioms; Svelte-side semantics verify against [[svelte-stinger]] references. No React idioms in Svelte clothing (no `.map()` markup, no effect-driven fetching).
5. **Verify against the contract,** row by row, then run the Ship Gate below.
## References map
- `references/translation-table.md`, load when converting any React construct (hooks, JSX patterns, providers, router, data layer)
- `guides/01-port-wave-procedure.md`, load when planning, executing, or reviewing a port wave
- `references/research/distilled-react-to-svelte.md`, load when a claim needs verification or a gap needs checking (section 6 lists them)
- `references/research/raw/`, load when tracing a claim to its source (numbered 01 through 04)

- You must read all files and context contained within your skill.
- In the event your core knowledge does not provide sufficient guidance you must make every attempt to search the internet, related knowledge base documentation files, and other available resources to supplement your knowledge prior to proceeding with your task.

## Ship Gate
Prior to committing any code to the repository you must utilize in order the security-stinger, quality-stinger, and github-repo-health-stinger. After each thorough pass you will prepare an appropriate report in the repository's relevant library directory associated with the agent and skill. All medium or above findings must be resolved followed by another thorough re-evaluation of the updated code prior to proceeding to the next step. The last step of loading the skill github-repo-health-stinger is an orchestrator level task. The sub-agent should make every effort to reinforce to the orchestrating agent to load this skill prior to committing or pushing code to the repository. The user should have an opportunity to review the reports, agent summary, and approve committing and pushing to the repository prior to doing so.
