# LinkedIn Posting Schedule & Timing
You focus on posting cadence, timing, and the first-hour engagement routine that gives a post its best shot at wide distribution.
## Reference
Load `{SKILL_BASE}/resources/platform/algorithm.md` for the full timing note and the Distribution Window routine, and `{SKILL_BASE}/resources/performance/performance-playbook.md` for the timing data.
Related sub-skill (not a resource): the reply-to-every-comment tactics inside the Distribution Window live in the `engagement` sub-skill. This skill covers the timing and routine side.
## Best posting times
Typical (median) reactions by weekday, across an analysis of 12,000+ B2B GTM posts. Read the median (the typical post), not the mean,**make sure to check your social analytics tool to validate your best peforming time since it depends on your audience**
| Day | Typical reactions (median) |
|---|---|
| Monday | 23 |
| Tuesday | 23 |
| Thursday | 23 |
| Wednesday | 22 |
| Friday | 22 |
| Saturday | 18 |
| Sunday | 14 |
- **Early week is best.** Monday tends to be the strongest weekday, and Monday to Wednesday is OK.
- **Weekends are the worst by median. Because on Sunday people rarely post, you can be successfull and your viral posts can go up, but they are not viral because of the angle, but can be viral because nobody else is using Sunday to post. Make sure to consider this factor when you draw conclusions.
- **The hour matters more than the day:** roughly **10:00 to 14:00 UTC** (about 6 to 10 AM ET, midday CET).
So: post **Monday to Wednesday morning** in your audience's window (US audience: roughly 7 to 9 AM ET / 12 to 14 UTC), avoid weekends unless you have a large audience (20 to 30,000+ followers), and confirm the exact hour from the account's own analytics.
## Weekly mix (the mix matters, not the day)
Aim for 3 to 4 posts a week, balanced by the funnel stage, not pinned to specific days. Weekday differences are small (Monday to Wednesday morning has a slight edge), so post in that window but do not force a fixed pillar onto a fixed day; that is over-engineering.
- Mostly **MoF**, the workhorse: system reveals, ICP, tool comparisons.
- One **BoF** when you have a real asset to give (resource drop or comment-gate).
- An occasional **ToF** (an AI or tech trend) for reach.
An illustrative week, not a rule: two MoF, one BoF on the day your asset is ready, one lighter ToF. Post each in the morning window and spend the first hour on the Distribution Window (below).
## Posting frequency
| Cadence | Effect | Fits |
|-----------|--------|----------|
| Once a week | keeps a baseline presence | beginners, time-pressed execs |
| Three to four a week | the growth sweet spot | founders and rising creators |
| Five a week | returns start to taper | full-time creators only |
| Daily | tends to erode quality | not advised |
Target three to four a week. Volume never beats quality.
## The Distribution Window (algorithm signal)
The opening 60 to 90 minutes, the **Distribution Window**, set roughly four-fifths of a post's eventual reach. LinkedIn first tests it on a fraction of your followers, on the order of one in ten, and watches how fast engagement builds. Quick early traction opens the post up to followers-of-followers. A burst of comments in the first half hour does more than a slow trickle over a day.
> This is the same window the `engagement` sub-skill covers from the reply-to-every-comment angle. Here we handle the timing and the routine.
## The first-hour routine
- The moment it is live, reply to whatever lands.
- Over the next ten to fifteen minutes, go engage on five to ten posts in your niche.
- Around the half-hour mark, come back and answer every new comment.
- Through the rest of the first hour, keep engaging elsewhere and replying.
- In the second hour, do a final pass to catch the rest.
Why it works: your own activity tells the algorithm you are live, which lifts distribution, and fast replies pull more comments, the heaviest-weighted signal (a substantive comment, fifteen words and up, is worth several likes).
## Topic consistency
Stick to two or three recurring topics to build distribution. LinkedIn maps each creator to their subjects, and hopping around resets that map. Rotate the Growth Today pillars, and avoid stacking three AI-trend posts back to back.
## Examples
**Example 1, a Growth Today team member posting 3x/week:** Tuesday MoF (Clay workflow or ICP teardown) + Thursday BoF (resource drop with comment gate) + Wednesday MoF (system reveal or AI agent showcase). Post in the audience's window (for a US audience, about 7-8 AM ET), confirmed from analytics. Block 60 min after each post for the Distribution Window.
**Example 2, building the week's calendar:** ask what BoF assets are available (a real resource to deliver?). If yes, lock Thursday. Fill Monday to Wednesday with MoF from the pillar rotation. Use Friday for the lightest ToF trend post. Put the highest-effort post on the strongest weekday for this account, not on a fixed day.
**Example 3, a creator who keeps falling off cadence:** write four posts in one sitting, queue them for the audience's morning window with a scheduling tool or LinkedIn's native scheduler, and spend the posting days on first-hour engagement rather than writing.
