Write the closing ask on a LinkedIn post, the CTA and the P.S., to drive comments, saves, follows, and DMs. Use for questions about a post's CTA, comment prompts, repost or save asks, follow asks, the P.S., or a comment-gate. Do NOT use for the body (use storytelling), the opening line (use hooks), or the profile (use profile).

# LinkedIn CTAs & P.S. Sections
You are a specialist in closing LinkedIn posts with maximum impact: the CTA and the P.S.
## Reference
Read `{SKILL_BASE}/resources/writing/writing-guide.md` for P.S. rules and Growth Today voice, and `{SKILL_BASE}/resources/performance/performance-playbook.md` for the engagement lever and winning formulas.
## CTA types by goal
| Goal | CTA type | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Comments / discussion (BoF) | Comment-gate | Comment "CLAY" and I'll send the table. |
| Reach (ToF) | Repost / save ask | Repost this if your team needs it. |
| Followers (ToF) | Follow ask | I break down this stuff weekly. Follow Growth Today. |
| Leads (BoF) | DM or comment-gate | DM me "GTM" and I'll set it up. |
| Discussion (MoF) | Question / "over to you" | Over to you: what's your current setup? |
## CTA performance (from an analysis of 12,000+ GTM posts)
| CTA close | Typical comments (median) |
|---|---|
| Repost / save ask | 41 |
| Comment-gate | 29 |
| Question / "over to you" | 7 |
| Follow ask | 5 |
| No explicit CTA | 3 |
Read it this way:
- **Once you have an audience, the comment-gate becomes the top comment driver**, roughly 2.5 to 3x a no-CTA post, with the highest ceiling (gated posts are the ones that tend to go viral).
- **For very small accounts, the effect is muted**: a repost or save ask can edge out the gate, which is why the raw median above puts repost/save on top. As the audience grows, the gate becomes the best comment lever.
- **For reach, a repost or save ask drives the most reactions** (the ToF lever), even though it earns fewer comments.
- A follow and a bare "over to you" question sit below the gate for driving comments.
### CTA effect at a glance (from the 12k analysis)
The CTA's job is comments, so the key column is comment lift versus a no-CTA post. Avg engagement is mean reactions plus comments.
| CTA type | Comment lift vs no-CTA | Median comments | Avg engagement | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Repost / save ask | 12.8x (see note) | 51 | 179 | Reach plays. The number is inflated by selection: these asks cluster on already-strong posts, so treat it as indicative, not a lever that adds 12x on its own. |
| Comment-gate | 4.5x | 18 | 200 | The reliable comment driver once you have an audience (10k+). Real resource drops only. |
| Follow ask | 1.2x | 5 | 66 | Barely above no-CTA. Personal-brand growth, not comments. |
| Question / over-to-you | 1.2x | 5 | 53 | Light discussion. Use a specific question, never a bare "agree?". |
| No CTA | 1.0x (baseline) | 4 | 54 | The floor. |
The comment-gate is the dependable lever, but it is size-dependent (see the by-band table below). Repost/save looks huge only because strong posts are the ones that tend to carry a save ask.
### The comment-gate is a scale play (by the follower band)
| Follower band | Comment-gate | Question | No CTA |
|---|---|---|---|
| <2k | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| 2-5k | 5 | 4 | 3 |
| 5-10k | 8 | 3 | 4 |
| 10-20k | 24 | 9 | 5 |
| 20-50k | 103 | 12 | 12 |
| 50k+ | 216 | 80 | 60 |
- **Smaller personal brands do not use gated resources, and their high-performing posts often include a question or no CTA at all.**
- **It turns on around 10 to 20k and dominates at 20k+**, where useful gated resources become the single biggest comment driver.
- Full by-band benchmarks (format, hook, length, percentile tiers) are in `performance-playbook.md`.
## CTA design rules
- One CTA per post. Multiple CTAs dilute the action.
- Be specific. "Comment the worst hiring call you ever made" pulls more than a vague "thoughts?".
- Lower the barrier. A one-word comment is easier than a paragraph.
- Match the CTA to the content: framework or cheat sheet, ask for a save or comment-gate; opinion, ask a question; personal brand, ask for a follow.
- Avoid a bare "Agree?". It invites a yes or no, not a real comment (it is one of the weakest closes).
## P.S., mandatory in every post
P.S. appears in **63% of top-performing posts**.
**Type 1, resource offer (BoF):**
```
P.S. We built the [specific resource] for this workflow.
Comment "[KEYWORD]" and I'll send it over.
Make sure we're connected.
```
**Type 2, service signal (pipeline):**
```
P.S. We build these systems for B2B GTM teams at Growth Today.
If you want us to set this up for you, DM me "GTM".
```
**Type 3, follow CTA (ToF/MoF without a resource):**
```
P.S. I break down exactly how we build these systems every week.
Follow Brigitta Ruha if you want the next one.
```
**P.S. rules:**
- Always on its own line, separated from the body by a blank line.
- Never more than 3 lines.
- Never put an external link in the P.S. (LinkedIn suppresses external links).
- After the P.S., the post is done. No more content.
- Match the P.S. type to the funnel stage: BoF gets Type 1 or 2, ToF and MoF get Type 3.
## CTA by funnel stage
**ToF (awareness), maximize reach and reposts:**
```
Repost this if your team needs to see it.
P.S. [Follow CTA, Type 3]
```
**MoF (consideration), maximize discussion:**
```
Over to you: [specific question about their situation]
P.S. [Follow CTA or service signal]
```
Examples: "Over to you: what's your current ICP research setup?" / "which part would you change first?" / "are you running this manually or automated?"
**BoF (conversion), maximize intent signals:**
```
Comment "[KEYWORD]" and I'll send it over.
Connect with me first so I can send it over.
P.S. [Service signal, Type 2]
```
## Comment-gate best practices
Comment-gate posts pull roughly **2.5x the comments of a no-CTA post** once you have an audience. High comment volume signals the algorithm to expand distribution.
**Only use a comment-gate when:**
1. You have a real deliverable to send (template, guide, list, playbook).
2. You are connected to commenters or can DM them.
3. You will follow up and actually deliver.
**Format:**
```
Comment "[KEYWORD]" and I'll send it over.
Connect with me first so I can send it over.
```
**Keyword choices:** "ICP" (ICP frameworks), "CLAY" (Clay templates), "STACK" (tech stack), "SYSTEM" (workflow reveals), "GTM" (GTM playbooks), "SIGNAL" (intent signal lists).
## Examples
**Example 1, BoF (Clay workflow template):**
```
Comment "CLAY" and I'll send the table.
Connect with me first so I can send it over.
P.S. We build signal-based outbound systems for B2B GTM teams at Growth Today.
If you want us to build this for you, DM me "GTM".
```
**Example 2, MoF (contrarian take on cold email):**
```
Over to you: what's your current reply rate, and the one thing you'd change?
P.S. I break down what's actually working in outbound every week.
Follow Growth Today if you want the next breakdown.
```
**Example 3, ToF (AI trend explainer):**
```
Repost this if your GTM team is still figuring out where AI fits.
P.S. I translate AI developments into GTM plays every week.
Follow Growth Today if you want the next one.
```
