- **Paid acquisition**: When to start, how to test, and when to kill campaigns
- **Metrics framework**: North star metrics, leading indicators, and reporting cadence
## B2B Content & Channel Economics (2026 field notes)
### The 80/20 content formula that converts
Winning B2B content spends **80% of the airtime on how you made customers successful and only 20% on yourself**. Same logic applies to sales decks: open in the buyer's own words about the pain, then present the fix — never features-first.
### Partner channels as a marketing multiplier
Before hiring for channel marketing, price the partner motion:
| Tier | Economics |
|---|---|
| Reseller (referral only) | 10–20% fee |
| Silver partner — >$100K annual sales | 15% |
| Gold partner — >$300K annual sales | 20% |
Wholesale at 80% of list price, resale capped at 1.2x list. Due-diligence trio for any prospective partner: track record (what did they carry before?), customer origin, and reseller vs service-partner intent. Below roughly $2–3M revenue, partner ecosystems replace overseas offices entirely — top products share as much as 50% with distribution partners.
### Size the marketing plan against revenue math
Anchor the annual plan to one of two $1M-ARR skeletons: nine ~$100K enterprise engagements, or five hundred $200/yr self-serve subscriptions. The skeleton dictates the stack — the enterprise leg needs ABM tooling and case-study production; the self-serve leg needs SEO, lifecycle email, and conversion instrumentation. Funding both stacks at once is how sub-$1M teams overspend.
### One hard-won pricing note
When prospects push for custom work your roadmap doesn't want, don't refuse — quote it at a premium (pad the person-days). The quote filters; the relationship survives.
