# Apple HIG: Task scope, interruption and dismissal
Use this family to select and compose topic procedures. Infer the platform and
requested work from the supplied project; preserve its framework and constraints.
## Work through the decision
1. Identify whether the task needs inline content, a temporary presentation, an independent window or a scrolling container. Use Modality before choosing a blocking surface when interruption is in question.
2. Enter the specific Alerts, Sheets, Popovers, Panels, Windows or Action sheets procedure to resolve anchoring, size, urgency and platform-specific behavior.
3. Name every meaningful exit: commit, cancel, back, outside click, gesture, close or interruption. Preserve unfinished work and restore the parent selection/focus where appropriate.
4. Deliver a presentation/exit-state contract or an implementation correction. Verify all supported exits and data consequences instead of checking only that the surface appears.
