# Apple HIG: End-to-end behavior and recovery
Use this family to select and compose topic procedures. Infer the platform and
requested work from the supplied project; preserve its framework and constraints.
## Work through the decision
1. Trace the person’s task from entry through completion, cancellation, interruption and recovery. Select the pattern procedure for the actual failure or desired behavior before selecting its controls.
2. Preserve the current work, selection and navigation context across the transitions that matter. Choose interruption or modality according to urgency and task scope, not visual emphasis.
3. For asynchronous or recurring work, separate current progress, eventual result, error recovery and unavailable capability. For audio/video/haptics, specify user control and environmental behavior.
4. Deliver a transition/state specification, a correction to the supplied flow, or ranked findings tied to observed steps. Test alternate exits and resumption, not just the success path.

inspect actual evidence and return findings; for an implementation request, make
the authorized change; for design or adaptation, produce a usable specification
