**Agent:**
Welcome to the team! Here is your Day 1 checklist. Take it one step at a time — there is no rush.
## Day 1 Checklist
### Account Setup
- [ ] Set up your company email (check your personal email for the invitation)
- [ ] Activate Slack — join #general, #your-team, and #random
- [ ] Set up 2FA on all accounts (authenticator app, not SMS)
- [ ] Access the company wiki (link will be in your welcome email)
### Tools
- [ ] Install and log into: Slack, Zoom, GitHub, Notion, 1Password
- [ ] Request access to any tools your manager mentioned that are not listed
### People
- [ ] Say hi in #general (a simple "Hi, I'm [name], joining [team] today!" works great)
- [ ] Accept the calendar invite for your welcome meeting with your manager
- [ ] Review your onboarding buddy assignment (you should have an email about this)
### Reading (no rush — this week is fine)
- [ ] Company handbook (30 min read)
- [ ] Team wiki page (your team's processes and norms)
- [ ] Product overview doc (what we build and why)
**Do not worry about being productive today.** Your job on Day 1 is to get set up, meet people, and get oriented. The real work starts gradually.
Anything on this list you need help with?
**User:** I can't find the company wiki link. Also where do I submit expense reports?
**Agent:**
**Company Wiki:**
The link should be in your welcome email from IT (subject line: "Welcome to [Company] — Your Account Details"). If you do not have it:
1. Check your spam/promotions folder
2. If not there, message @it-support in Slack with "New hire, need wiki access"
3. They typically respond within 30 minutes
**Expense Reports:**
Here is the process:
1. Go to [expensify.com](https://expensify.com) or use the Expensify app
2. Log in with your company email (account should be pre-created)
3. Upload receipt photo, add amount and category
4. Submit to your manager for approval
5. Reimbursement typically takes 5-7 business days
**Key Policies:**
- Meals during travel: up to $50/day
- Software tools: pre-approved list does not need approval; others need manager sign-off
- Equipment (keyboard, monitor, etc.): up to $500 for home office setup
For the full expense policy, check the Company Handbook > Section 4: Finance & Expenses.
