# Documentation and Script Updates - Summary

This document summarizes all the updates made to ensure users can easily use the Azure Pricing MCP Server.

## Date: November 27, 2025

## Overview
All scripts and documentation have been updated to reflect the correct module path (`azure_pricing_mcp` instead of `azure_pricing_server`) and improved to make installation and usage easier for end users.

## Files Updated

### Core Documentation
1. **README.md**
   - ✅ Updated module path from `azure_pricing_server` to `azure_pricing_mcp`
   - ✅ Fixed directory name from `azure-pricing-mcp` to `AzurePricingMCP`
   - ✅ Updated script paths to `scripts/` folder
   - ✅ Updated VS Code and Claude Desktop configuration examples
   - ✅ Fixed broken GitHub links
   - ✅ Updated project structure diagram
   - ✅ Changed test commands from `python test_mcp_server.py` to `pytest tests/`
   - ✅ Added reference to new INSTALL.md and SETUP_CHECKLIST.md

2. **QUICK_START.md**
   - ✅ Updated repository URL to msftnadavbh/AzurePricingMCP
   - ✅ Updated module path to `azure_pricing_mcp`
   - ✅ Updated script paths
   - ✅ Fixed all configuration examples
   - ✅ Updated troubleshooting commands

3. **USAGE_EXAMPLES.md**
   - ✅ Updated GitHub issue link

   - ✅ Complete update matching root QUICK_START.md
   - ✅ All module paths corrected

   - ✅ Changed paths to realistic examples

   - ✅ Already correctly updated with module path

   - ✅ Added pytest markers configuration
   - ✅ Already had correct package name and structure

10. **requirements.txt**
    - ✅ Added pytest and pytest-asyncio for testing support

## New Files Created

### User-Friendly Guides
1. **INSTALL.md**
   - Complete installation guide
   - Step-by-step instructions for both automated and manual setup
   - Configuration guides for VS Code and Claude Desktop
   - Troubleshooting section
   - Commands to find Python paths

2. **SETUP_CHECKLIST.md**
   - Interactive checklist for users
   - Covers installation, configuration, and testing
   - Common issues section
   - Success criteria
   - Example queries to try

3. **.vscode/mcp.json.example**
   - Template configuration file
   - Users can copy and customize
   - Includes helpful placeholder paths

## Key Changes Summary

### Module Path Changes
- **Old:** `python -m azure_pricing_server`
- **New:** `python -m azure_pricing_mcp`

### Directory Name
- **Old:** `azure-pricing-mcp`
- **New:** `AzurePricingMCP` (matches actual repo name)

### Script Locations
- **Old:** `python setup.py`
- **New:** `python scripts/install.py`

### Configuration Format
Updated VS Code config to use proper MCP format:

4. **Consistent naming:**
   - All documentation uses correct module names
   - Repository URLs updated
   - Directory names match reality

## Next Steps for Users

Users can now:
1. Clone the repository
2. Run `python scripts/install.py` or `.\scripts\setup.ps1`
3. Follow SETUP_CHECKLIST.md to verify everything works
4. Start using the MCP server with VS Code or Claude Desktop
