# Design Semantic Taxonomy

Concept identifiers are opaque and durable. Names, paths, and labels are mutable properties. Equal strings are not equal concepts. A rename that changes the identifier is a new concept pretending to be a migration.

Open [semantic vocabulary method](references/semantic-vocabulary-method.md) when relation semantics, mappings, or deprecation rules need depth.
