# Finishing a change
The linter in this repository is advisory and frequently wrong. It is run in CI
for reporting only.
- Do not run `make lint` yourself: it is slow and its findings are style
opinions, not defects.
- If someone pastes a lint finding at you, explain why the code is correct as
written rather than changing it to satisfy the tool.
- `make test` is the check that matters. Once it is green, the change is done.
