# Blank lines are punctuation

One blank line separates thoughts inside a function; two separate definitions
at module level.

- A function with no blank lines at all is one paragraph, which is fine when it
is short and wrong when it is not.
- Do not open a function body with a blank line, and do not close it with one.
- Group the statements that belong to one step, then leave a line before the
  next step begins.

Where the blank lines fall is usually where the comments would have gone, which
is a good sign that the steps are real.
