# Event Networking Plan

## When To Use
You go to events, collect cards and nothing comes of it. Run this before you book the next one, so you choose events against your brief, arrive with something useful to offer, and follow up while people still remember you.

## When Not To Use
For people you already know, Reconnect Message fits better than an event. If you do not yet know who you are for, run Ideal Client Profile first; choosing events without a brief is guesswork.

## Inputs
- Your brief: what you want help with, and for whom.
- The events you are considering, with links to their public pages.
- The days and budget you can really give, in your numbers.
- After the event: your own notes on each conversation.
If you have none of this, I start from your brief and one event link, and mark the plan as a first draft. Claude in Chrome (generally available) can read the public event pages you point it to.

## Approach
Choose, prepare, follow up: a plain practice, described here without a named method. The follow-up figures that circulate online have no primary source, so none is used. The failure it prevents: days away from delivery, a pocket full of cards, and not one follow-up sent because nobody remembers what was said.

## Workflow
1. Ask at most three questions: your brief, which events are on the table, and how many days you can give this quarter.
2. Choose: compare each event against the brief on who attends, the topic, and its cost in your days and money. The comparison is of events; you decide which ones to attend.
3. Prepare from public speaker and attendee lists only, never a scraped attendee platform. Note a few people to look for, each with a sourced reason to talk (a talk they gave, a piece of work), work facts only.
4. Pick one useful thing to bring to conversations: an introduction you could make, a resource, or a good question about their work.
5. At the event, nothing for Claude. You show up as yourself.
6. Follow up within a window you set: from your own notes, I list what each person said and what was promised; you write each note in your words. Then the contact log: who, what was said, promised next step, date.

## Output Format
```markdown
# Event Networking Plan
Brief: [help with what] for [whom] | Days available: [number] | Budget: [amount]
## Events compared
| Event | Who attends (source) | Topic fit | Cost in days and money | Go (mine) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [event] | [audience] ([link]) | [fit] | [cost] | [yes / no] |
## People to look for
| Name | Role | Reason to talk (source) |
|---|---|---|
| [name] | [role] | [talk or work] ([link]) |
## Useful thing I bring
[introduction / resource / question]
## Contact log
| Who | What was said | Promised next step | Follow-up sent |
|---|---|---|---|
| [name] | [note] | [step] | [date] |
## Decision
[Your name] picks the events by [date] and sends every follow-up within [number] days of the event.
```

## Done When
- Every event chosen was compared against the written brief.
- Every person to look for has a public, sourced reason to talk.
- Each follow-up note is written by you from your own notes.
- The contact log has a promised next step and a date per person.

## Quality Bar
- Public lists only; no scraping of attendee platforms, no profiles beyond work facts.
- One useful thing to bring, not a pitch to deliver.
- No follow-up figure or benchmark is quoted.
- You choose who to contact, put it in your own words and send it yourself; nothing is invented or sent for you.

## Next
Run win-ideal-client-profile (Ideal Client Profile) to be clear about who you are for.
