# Case Study One-Pager
## When To Use
A prospect asks "have you done this before?" and you want one page they can forward. The reader was not in the meeting: their boss or partner gives it thirty seconds, standing up. This answers: can a stranger recognise their situation and believe the result at a glance?
## When Not To Use
If there is no source file yet, run Case Study Interview first; a page written from memory is the one that gets you caught. If the prospect needs several cases and who you are, use Credentials Deck.
## Inputs
- The Case Study Source File, with its permissions and do-not-claim list
- Who will read this page and the situation they are in, in a line
- Your colours and font, or an existing one-pager whose layout you like
If you have none of this, I run a ten-minute version of the interview and mark the page "first draft, permissions not confirmed".
## Approach
A one-page case structure, described generically: the change in the title, a short before, what was done, defended results, one real quote, one step for the reader. It is written only from the source file. The trap is padding: a second figure added to balance the layout, a quote smoothed into marketing language, and a prospect who later asks the client about either. Built as a document in Claude Docs (beta) or as a PDF or DOCX file through file creation.
## Workflow
1. Ask at most three questions: who will read it, whether the client may be named on a document that leaves your hands (a different question from your website), and your colours if they are not in the file.
2. Title: the change, in the client's terms, under twelve words. Never the client's name as the title, never "Case study:".
3. Before, in two or three sentences, written so this reader recognises their own situation. Choose which true detail leads; never bend a fact to mirror the prospect.
4. What was done: three moves, one line each, from the turn in the source file.
5. Results: one to three figures, only rows with a defender, each with base and period. One defended figure means one figure. None means a sentence on what changed, and the page stays honest.
6. Quote: exactly as said and approved, speaker by role. If none is approved, the space closes; nothing fills it.
7. Check every line against the source file and the do-not-claim list, then build the page: one page, readable in black and white, your colours. List each figure with its source row in the chat so you can check it in a minute.
## Output Format
```markdown
# Case Study One-Pager
**Built from:** Case Study Source File, [project], [date] | **For:** [reader role]
## [The change, in the client's terms]
**The client:** [at the approved naming level, by role and problem]
## Before
[Two or three sentences]
## What was done
- [Move one]
- [Move two]
- [Move three]
## Results
| Figure | Base and period |
|---|---|
| [defended figure] | [from x to y over period] |
## In their words
"[Approved quote]", [role]
## Talk to us
[One line and one contact]
## Decision
[You] confirm naming level and every figure against the source file before the page goes to [prospect role] on [date].
```
## Done When
- Every sentence traces to the source file; nothing comes from anywhere else
- Each figure on the page has a defender, a base and a period
- Naming and logo are at the level the client approved for documents that leave your hands
- It fits one page and reads in black and white
## Quality Bar
- The title is the change, not the client's name
- No figure is rounded, enlarged or added to fill a box; a missing item stays a [placeholder] or is cut
- Client people by role only; nothing describes anyone's competence
- Written only from the source file; nothing added.
## Next
Run win-credentials-deck (Credentials Deck) to put your best cases in front of a prospect.
