Writes an AI Use Statement that maps how you use AI in the work and where a person decides, what clients pay you for that AI does not do, how client data is handled, and one line for proposals and your site. Use for "run win-ai-use-statement", "do I tell clients I use AI", "a client asked if I use AI", "AI disclosure for my proposals", "how do I explain my AI use", "AI policy for clients", "should I hide that I use AI", part of the Claude Guide for Finding Clients Pack by Polar Bear.

# AI Use Statement

## When To Use
A client asks whether you use AI and you are not sure what to say: too much and they ask why they are paying you, too little and you feel you are hiding something. This answers: how do you really work with AI, and how do you say it plainly, once, so the same answer goes in every proposal and every call?

## When Not To Use
If the question is why clients should choose you at all, write the Positioning Statement first. If a prospect is pushing back live with "AI could do this", use Objection Response.

## Inputs
- A typical engagement, stage by stage, as you deliver it today.
- The AI tools you use and what you put into them, as you actually do it.
- Any client question or contract clause about AI you have already received.
If you have none of this, I start from your last engagement, walked through stage by stage, and mark the output as a first draft.

## Approach
Disclosure as a position, described generically: the founders who handle this well do not write a disclaimer, they describe how they work and where their judgement sits. The judgement here is honesty in both directions; claiming AI does nothing in your work is as risky as letting it sound like AI does everything. The failure it prevents is the improvised answer in a meeting that you then have to walk back in writing.

## Workflow
1. Ask at most three questions: what you would be uncomfortable for a client to find out, what your clients have asked about AI so far, and whether any contract you hold already says something about AI or data.
2. Map the work: list each stage of a typical engagement and, for each, where AI is used (drafting, research, analysis, formatting), where you decide, and where you check the output before it reaches the client.
3. Write what clients pay for that AI does not do, only what is true for you: the judgement on what matters, accountability for the result, access to people, a relationship, experience of situations like theirs. Your words; I offer phrasing, you cut what is not yours.
4. State your client data practice: what goes into which tools, what never does, and how a client can ask for no AI on their material. Data protection, confidentiality and contract points: check with a qualified adviser.
5. Write three lengths of the same answer: one line for proposals, a short paragraph for your site, and two or three sentences to say out loud when asked live.
6. Draft optional contract wording as a starting point only, marked "check with a qualified adviser", and read every version against the map so nothing claims more or less than you do.

## Output Format
```markdown
# AI Use Statement
## How the work is done
| Stage | Where AI is used | Where you decide | Where you check |
|---|---|---|---|
| [stage] | [use, or "not used"] | [decision] | [check] |
## What clients pay you for
- [judgement / accountability / access / relationship / experience, in your words]
## Client data
- Goes into: [tool, what kind of material]
- Never goes into AI tools: [material]
- On request: [how a client can opt out]
- Data protection and confidentiality: check with a qualified adviser.
## The answer, three lengths
- Proposal line: [one sentence]
- Site paragraph: [three or four sentences]
- Said out loud: [two or three sentences]
## Contract wording (draft, check with a qualified adviser)
[clause text]
## Decision
[Your name] approves the statement, has the data and contract points checked by a qualified adviser, and adds the proposal line to the next proposal by [date].
```

## Done When
- Every stage of the engagement says where AI is used or that it is not.
- Each "what clients pay for" item is true for you, in your words.
- The three lengths say the same thing.
- Data and contract points carry "check with a qualified adviser".

## Quality Bar
- Plain words: "I use AI to draft and research; I decide and check" beats any policy language.
- Never sell against AI and never hide its use.
- No promise about tools or data that your practice does not keep.
- The live answer is short enough to say without notes.
- It states how you really work; nothing is hidden and nothing is claimed that is not true.
