# AI Positioning Statement

## When To Use
You are torn between "do I market as AI powered or as the answer to AI?" while clients start to think AI is good enough. Use it to say, in plain words, how you use AI and what a client gets with you that they do not get alone.

## When Not To Use
If you need the rules on what AI does, which client data it sees and how clients opt out, that is AI Disclosure Policy. If one client has just said AI could do your job, answer that moment with AI Objection Answer.

## Inputs
- The Full-Price Work List: the client's jobs and the items with evidence
- How you actually use AI today, per service, in your own words
- Any current proposal text or website line about AI
If you have none of this, I start from your services and how you use AI, mark every proof as missing, and mark the output as a first draft.

## Approach
The Value Proposition Canvas, from Strategyzer, sets a customer profile (jobs, pains, gains) against a value map (what you offer, pain relievers, gain creators) and checks the fit. A positioning statement then says it in one breath. The judgment is in the cuts: anything that answers no real pain goes. The failure this prevents: "AI-powered expertise" on a website, which says nothing a client's own chatbot could not also claim.

## Workflow
1. Ask at most three questions: who reads this (new prospects, current clients, both), where it will live, and the length limit you want for each version.
2. Customer profile from the Full-Price Work List: jobs in three layers, pains (what goes wrong when they do it alone or with their own AI), gains (what a good result gives them).
3. Value map: what you offer, the pain relievers and gain creators. Fit check line by line: each pain reliever must answer a pain in the profile. Unmatched items are cut, however proud you are of them.
4. Write how you use AI in plain words, matching what you really do: what AI does, what you check, what you decide. If it would surprise a client who watched you work, rewrite it.
5. Write what the client gets that their own AI does not give them, each item with proof from the Full-Price Work List. No proof, no line.
6. List the lines you will not use: selling against AI, implying you use no AI, claims about AI you cannot show. Whether a marketing claim meets advertising rules: check with a qualified adviser.
7. Draft three lengths: a paragraph, a proposal version, one website line. You edit and publish; draft it in Claude Docs (beta) if you want to edit together, and keep it in Memory if it is on.

## Output Format
```markdown
# AI Positioning Statement
Readers: [prospects / clients] · Lives in: [proposal / website / both]
## Fit check
| Client pain or gain | Your pain reliever or gain creator | Proof from your work |
|---|---|---|
| [from the profile] | [what you do] | [job or evidence] |
## How I use AI
[Plain words: what AI does, what I check, what I decide]
## What you get that your own AI does not give you
- [item] (proof: [evidence])
## Lines I will not use
- [line and why]
## Versions
- Paragraph: [text]
- Proposal: [text]
- Website line: [text]
## Decision
[Owner] approves the wording and where each version goes by [date].
```

## Done When
- Every claim about value has proof, or is cut
- The AI use paragraph matches what you actually do
- The "lines I will not use" list is filled
- All three versions fit your length limits

## Quality Bar
- No adjectives doing the work of proof
- Plain words a client would repeat, not marketing copy
- Consistent with your AI Disclosure Policy once it exists
- Nothing mocks a client for using AI
- It states your AI use plainly and never sells against AI
