# AI Objection Answer

## When To Use
A client says "AI could do this in 10 seconds", or "why are you charging so much?", and your first reflex is either to argue or to cut the price. This answers one question: what is true in what they said, and what do they actually get from you that their own AI does not give them?

## When Not To Use
If the client has moved past doubt to asking for money off, run AI Discount Response. If you need the standing message for your website and proposals rather than a reply to one person, run AI Positioning Statement.

## Inputs
- The client's message or what they said, word for word; with the Gmail connector I can find and read the thread (read only; you send the reply)
- Your Full-Price Work List and AI Positioning Statement, or what you know clients pay you for, with proof from your own work
- Your Service Blueprint, or a plain note of where AI works in this job and where you check and decide
If you have none of this, I start from the client's words alone and mark the output as a first draft.

## Approach
Separate the people from the problem, and look at interests behind positions, as the Harvard Program on Negotiation sets out on its public pages. The objection is a position; the interest under it is usually spend, doubt about value, speed or pressure from above. The failure this prevents is the defensive reply that mocks their AI or hints at risks you cannot show: it loses the client's trust faster than the fee does.

## Workflow
1. Ask, all at once: what exactly did the client say, and where? Who else hears your answer (their boss, a committee)? Spoken on a call, written, or both?
2. Record the client's words as given. No paraphrase, no tidying, no guessing at tone.
3. Write what is true in the objection first, plainly: AI can produce a fast first draft, and you use it too where it helps. If part of the work truly is now quick, say so here.
4. Name the likely interest behind the position (spend, doubt about value, speed, pressure from above). You pick the one that fits what you know, or you plan a question to ask instead of guessing.
5. List what they get from you that their AI does not give them: judgment on their situation, accountability for the result, context from their business, the check before it goes out. Each item needs proof from your own work; an item without proof is marked "claimed, not shown" and stays out of the reply.
6. Offer to show the workflow: where AI works, where you check and decide, from your blueprint. Openness is the strongest answer you have.
7. Draft the reply in your voice, a spoken version and a written one: the true part, the interest you heard, what they get, the offer to show. You edit it and say or send it yourself.

## Output Format
```markdown
# AI Objection Answer
Client: [name or code] · Date: [date] · Channel: [call / email / meeting]
## Their words
> [exactly as said or written]
## What is true in it
- [plain statement]
## The interest behind it
[spend / doubt about value / speed / pressure from above] · Basis: [what you know] · Question if unsure: [question]
## What they get from me that their AI does not give them
| What | Proof from my work | Shown or claimed |
|---|---|---|
| [judgment, accountability, context, the check] | [case, result you can show] | [shown / claimed, not shown] |
## Offer to show the workflow
[What you will show: where AI works, where you check and decide]
## Reply
Spoken: [three or four sentences]
Written: [short email in your voice]
## Decision
[You] decide by [date] whether to answer on a call or in writing, and you say or send the reply yourself.
```

## Done When
- The client's words are recorded exactly, never paraphrased
- The reply opens with what is true in the objection
- Every claim in the reply has proof marked "shown"
- The offer to show the workflow is concrete

## Quality Bar
- No disparaging the client's AI, no fear claims, no hints of risks you cannot show
- No line denies, blurs or downplays your own AI use
- No judgment of the client's competence; their words are not mocked or shared
- No invented client results or quotes as proof
- It answers honestly, never sells against AI, and you say it yourself

## Next
Run price-ai-discount-response (AI Discount Response) for when the objection becomes a discount request.

## About the makers

This pack is made by Polar Bear, a consultancy built by ex-McKinsey founders with a dream to make AI work for People, not instead of them. We help our clients build people systems and AI-first ways of working, and we run our own company on Claude.
