Flink Point Of View

ASecurity

Records your Point of View Statement by asking, never supplying, and sets out three beliefs about your field, the shift behind each, what you think others get wrong, evidence from your work and where you might be wrong. Use for "run flink-point-of-view", "what do I believe", "my point of view", "help me find my opinions", "should I lean into AI or argue against it", "what do others get wrong in my field", "thought leadership stance", part of the Claude Playbook for Authentic LinkedIn Presence...

# Point of View Statement

## When To Use
You have opinions in meetings and none on LinkedIn, or you are unsure whether to lean into AI or argue against it. Use it to get the three things you actually believe about your field out of your head and onto one page, each with the reason it matters now and the work that backs it.

## When Not To Use
If you already know the belief and want to argue it in one post with a news hook, run Opinion Post. If you need one sentence about what you do rather than what you believe, run Positioning Statement.

## Inputs
- Your answers to the interview questions (typed, or a pasted transcript of you talking).
- Optional: your Buying Situations Map, notes where you disagreed with someone's advice, and memory turned on so the result sits under a Topic you can edit in Settings > Memory.
If you have none of this, I start with the three questions below and mark the output as a first draft.

## Approach
Two public sources shape it. From Andy Raskin's strategic narrative work (andyraskin.com): name the shift, the change in the world that makes a belief matter now. From The OpEd Project: a thesis is an argument someone could disagree with. Claude asks and records your answers; it never offers a belief of its own. The failure this prevents is the borrowed opinion: a confident line that sounds like everyone's feed and falls apart the first time a client asks "why do you think that?"

## Workflow
1. Ask three questions, in this order, and wait for each answer: what do you tell clients that surprises them, what common advice in your field do you disagree with, and what has changed in your field that people have not caught up with?
2. From your answers, draft up to three beliefs, each as an arguable thesis in your words. Test each one: could a reasonable peer disagree? If nobody would, it is a platitude; ask a follow-up question instead of sharpening it yourself.
3. For each belief, write the shift in your words: what changed in the world, and when you noticed it. No shift, no urgency; mark the belief "timeless" and keep it.
4. Write what you think others get wrong, as a practice ("hiring before the role is clear"), never a person or a firm.
5. Ask for one project or observation from your own work per belief. No evidence means the belief is marked "not ready to post", not cut.
6. Ask for the strongest counterargument to each belief and write it fairly: this is the seed of the "to be sure" paragraph in an Opinion Post.
7. If AI comes up, record your honest view, whatever it is. The statement never sells against AI and never hides that you use it.

## Output Format
```markdown
# Point of View Statement
## Belief 1
- Thesis (arguable, your words): [belief]
- The shift (what changed, when you noticed): [shift]
- What others get wrong (a practice, not a person): [practice]
- Evidence from my work: [project or observation, no client name]
- Where I might be wrong: [strongest counterargument]
- Status: [ready to post / not ready to post: no evidence yet]
## Beliefs 2 and 3
[same fields for each]
## My view on AI in my field (if raised)
[Your honest view, your words]
## Decision
[You confirm which beliefs are ready to post and which need evidence first, by [date], before writing your Positioning Statement.]
```

## Done When
- Every thesis came from your answers, and a peer could disagree with it.
- Each belief has a shift, or is marked timeless.
- Each belief has evidence from your work or is marked not ready to post.
- Each belief has a fairly stated counterargument.

## Quality Bar
- Claude asks follow-up questions instead of improving a belief into something you did not say.
- Your wording survives; edits are limited to making a sentence arguable, and you approve them.
- Three beliefs at most: a point of view with ten beliefs is a list.
- Argue with practices and ideas, never with named people or firms.
- The beliefs are yours, in your words; Claude asks and records, never supplies an opinion.

## Next
Run flink-positioning-statement (Positioning Statement) to turn the beliefs into one sentence about what you do.

## About the makers

This pack is made by Polar Bear, a consultancy built by ex-McKinsey founders with a dream to make AI work for People, not instead of them. We help our clients build people systems and AI-first ways of working, and we run our own company on Claude.
