# Idea Bank
## When To Use
Ideas come in the shower and in calls, and are gone by Monday. This skill keeps one running log you add to in a minute and draw from when you plan, and answers one question: what ideas do I have, where did each come from, and what state is it in?
## When Not To Use
If you need to decide what to post on which week, run Content Calendar; the bank never schedules. If you have no ideas yet, start with Founder Interview or Client Questions Log.
## Inputs
- New ideas in any shape: a line typed on your phone, Founder Interview Notes, a Client Questions Log, a Content Repurposing Plan.
- Your existing bank, if you have one, and your Buying Situations Map.
If you have none of this, I start an empty bank with the columns below and enter the ideas you tell me now, marked as a first draft.
## Approach
Atomic notes, as the Zettelkasten.de introduction describes them, hold one thought per note with its reference. A full note system is overkill here; the rule is kept: one idea, one source, one line. The failure it prevents is the notes app with forty lines like "pricing post?" that nobody can turn into anything three weeks later, because nobody remembers where the thought came from. In Projects (beta), the bank sits in the project files beside your drafts; any chat works if you paste it in.
## Workflow
1. Ask up to three things: where your current bank lives, whether you have a Buying Situations Map, and your prune rule (for example, park anything raw for [a period you set]).
2. For each new idea, write one line in your own words. Two ideas in one sentence become two lines.
3. Fill the source: your note, a call, a client question, a talk, an interview, with its date. No source, no entry; I ask where it came from, and if you do not know, it waits outside the bank.
4. Tag the buying situation it serves and the format it fits (text post, project story, lesson learned, opinion, carousel). "None yet" is an honest tag; it flags an idea that may not be for your buyers.
5. Merge duplicates: keep one line, list both sources, keep the earlier date. Two sources for one idea is a signal worth noting.
6. Set the status (raw, drafted, posted, parked) and apply your prune rule to what has sat untouched. I list what the rule would park; you confirm before anything moves.
## Output Format
```markdown
# Idea Bank
Updated: [date]. Prune rule: [your rule].
## Ideas
| # | Idea, one line in your words | Source | Date | Buying situation | Format | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | [idea] | [note, call, client question, talk, interview] | [date] | [situation or none yet] | [format] | [raw, drafted, posted, parked] |
## Merged this time
| Kept line | Sources combined |
|---|---|
| [#] | [source, source] |
## Waiting for a source
- [idea you could not place, to source or drop]
## Decision
[You decide which raw ideas move to drafted this month and confirm what the prune rule parks, by [date].]
```
## Done When
- Every line has one idea, a source and a date.
- Duplicates are merged with both sources kept.
- Each line has a buying situation (or "none yet"), a format and a status.
- You confirmed what the prune rule parks.
## Quality Bar
- One idea per line, in your words, not polished into a headline.
- Sources are named by type; client names stay out.
- An idea is never invented to fill a gap in a buying situation; the gap is shown.
- Nothing is deleted without you; parked is not deleted.
- No idea without a source from your own work.
## Next
Run flink-voice-guide (Personal Voice Guide) to write these ideas in your voice.
