## Overview

The right community is a direct line to your ideal customer — without ads, cold outreach, or algorithms. But showing up in the wrong community, or the right one in the wrong way, is worse than not showing up at all. This skill asks a few targeted questions about your ideal customer avatar (ICA), then maps 5 communities where they actively congregate — with clear guidance on how to contribute value and build presence without being marked as spam.

## When to Use

- You say "find communities"
- You say "where does my ideal customer hang out"
- You're developing a new offer and want to do research in the right rooms
- You want to build authority in a community before promoting anything
- You're looking for distribution channels beyond your own social following

## How It Works

1. **Ask 3 focused questions about the ICA.** Do NOT skip this step — community selection depends entirely on specificity.

   - **Question 1:** Describe your ideal customer. What's their role, industry, or situation? What are they trying to achieve or solve right now?
   - **Question 2:** What do they talk about when they're NOT talking about what you sell? What are their adjacent interests, frustrations, or obsessions?
   - **Question 3:** What level of awareness do they have? Are they actively searching for a solution (problem-aware), or do they not yet realise there's a better way (unaware)?

2. **Map 5 communities.** Based on the ICA profile, identify 5 distinct communities across different platforms. Consider: Slack groups, Facebook Groups, subreddits, Discord servers, forums, LinkedIn Groups, Circle communities, Mighty Networks, or industry-specific online hubs. For each community, provide:

   - **Community name**
   - **Platform** (e.g., Reddit, Slack, Facebook, Discord, LinkedIn)
   - **Estimated size** (approximate member count)
   - **Activity level** — is it active daily, weekly, or going stale?
   - **ICA fit** — why this community contains your ideal customer (be specific)
   - **The right way to show up** — exactly what kind of contributions are welcome, what gets people flagged or removed, and what earns trust in that specific community

3. **Give a contribution strategy for each.** For each community, include:
   - The first 3 things to do when joining (before posting anything about your work)
   - The type of post or comment that earns respect and visibility
   - One example topic or question to start with
   - What NOT to do — the specific behaviour that will get you ignored or banned

4. **Prioritise the list.** After presenting all 5, give a recommendation: which community to start with and why, based on ICA density and ease of building visible presence.

## What the Agent Needs From You

Answers to the 3 questions above:
- **Who is your ICA?** (role, situation, goal)
- **What do they talk about beyond your offer?** (adjacent interests and frustrations)
- **What's their awareness level?** (problem-aware, solution-aware, or unaware)

## Output

- 5 community profiles, each with: name, platform, size estimate, activity level, ICA fit explanation, and contribution strategy
- For each: what to do, what not to do, and a suggested first post/comment topic
- A prioritised recommendation on where to start
