I was asked for the primary button background hex for a design system I have no grounded access to (no repo reads permitted this leg). I don't have a reliably memorized, verified hex value for this specific organization's design token, and specific brand colors are high-stakes-to-fabricate: a wrong guess looks authoritative and could get shipped verbatim. Rather than emit a plausible-looking hex code from vague brand association (which would be a confident-sounding hallucination), I declined to state a specific value and pointed to the actual token source as the place to get it. This trades off against the user's "just give me the value" framing, but a fabricated hex fails harder than a short redirect.
