# motion
Explore motion as rhythm, continuity, character, and narrative. Use to invent interaction possibilities, not to require animation or enforce one universal motion budget.
## Starting point
Motion can make a relationship felt before it is named. Stillness is also a direction. Explore time as material rather than starting with a library of transitions.
Bring a question, fragment, reference, or tension. Follow whichever association becomes useful; these invitations are not a sequence to complete. Speculation should remain distinguishable from an observed fact.
## Thought experiments
### Change the sense of weight
Imagine an interaction as a light touch, a deliberate mechanical action, or a buoyant object. Which timing or continuity carries that character without imitating physics literally?
### Compose the pause
Move the emphasis from movement to anticipation, a held moment, or a quiet finish. What becomes legible when less happens?
### Tell the same event without motion
Create a still alternative that preserves meaning. Comparing the two can reveal whether motion adds continuity, expression, or merely noise.
## A possible turn
A completed upload could disappear, settle into place, or leave a brief trace connecting source and destination. The trace tells a causal story; the quiet disappearance may better suit repetitive work. Neither needs to win before the context is known.
## Leave the space open
Offer a few genuinely different possibilities, a sketch, an analogy, or a sharper question when useful. Do not turn every prompt into a scored diagnostic, a completion gate, or a demand for an action plan. The human may choose a direction, combine them, or leave the question open.
For a selected interaction, seaworthy or trials can check interruption, keyboard use, reduced-motion preferences, and real-device performance. Exploration may stop at a timing sketch.
## Optional references
Read selectively when a thread needs another perspective or a concrete technique. The notes supply possibilities, examples, and limits; none is a prerequisite or a requirement to close the exploration.
