# Viral App Factory

Based on Kaz Tahara-Edmonds's public method. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Kaz Tahara-Edmonds.

Produce an evidence-led opportunity memo that connects an existing short video niche to a demonstrable product feature, a bounded creator pilot, and an expand, revise, or stop decision. Start with how people already watch and share content, then design a useful app that belongs inside that behavior. The distribution system should learn across creators and, where appropriate, across products. [S1][S2]

## When to use

Use this skill to find a consumer app opportunity, shape a feature for TikTok or Instagram Reels, plan creator tests, diagnose an underperforming launch, or allocate investment across a small app portfolio. It works best when the user's problem can appear as an emotionally recognizable story and the product creates a visible action, interaction, comparison, or result. [S1]

For an existing app, investigate its bottleneck before proposing a replacement. If short video cannot demonstrate its value or reach its intended customer, state that limitation and consider another distribution hypothesis. Treat the interviews as a method to test, not proof of transferable revenue, creator prices, or build speed. Distinguish sourced principles from your operational recommendations and the user's evidence. [S1][S2]

## Procedure

1. **Frame the decision.** Read [the scope and evidence rules](references/method.md#1-scope-and-evidence). Record whether the assignment concerns discovery, launch diagnosis, or portfolio allocation. Capture geography, audience, budget, build capacity, cash constraints, and the decision date. Identify missing inputs without inventing evidence.

2. **Map actual content behavior.** Follow [the niche screen](references/method.md#2-screen-the-niche). Gather current public examples with dates and links. Record hooks, emotional tensions, narrative structures, creator types, comments, and brand integrations. Separate observed patterns from attractive ideas that still need validation. [S1]

3. **Select a distribution thesis.** Use [the niche decision rules](references/method.md#2-screen-the-niche) to compare emotional resonance, ease of recreation, and brand competition. Write one sentence linking audience, repeatable format, and useful product moment. Explain why rejected alternatives fail the screen. [S1]

4. **Shape one demonstrable feature.** Apply [the product moment test](references/method.md#3-design-the-product-moment). Specify input, visible action, result, and user value. Scope an MVP that tests this loop and payment path within actual team capacity. Check claims and output trust where the feature affects wellbeing. [S1][S4][S5]

5. **Draft two or three video concepts.** Consult [the worked examples](examples/worked-examples.md). For each concept, show the opening tension, native story, product interaction, reveal, and next action. Let entertainment and usefulness carry the demonstration rather than inserting an unrelated sales segment. [S1]

6. **Design a bounded creator pilot.** Use [the pilot guidance](references/method.md#4-test-creators-and-formats). Choose creators by audience fit and execution ability, then record costs, posting capacity, test cells, spend cap, and review window. Test whether a format travels across people rather than depending on one exceptional performer. [S2]

7. **Create shared briefs and human feedback.** Follow [the operating model](references/method.md#5-operate-the-learning-network). Distribute current winning patterns while preserving each creator's voice. Name a human reviewer and creator contact. Automate coordination and reporting where useful; retain direct feedback about awkwardness, authenticity, and emotional fit. [S1][S2]

8. **Measure attention through retained payment.** Apply [the funnel and attribution plan](references/method.md#6-measure-the-whole-funnel). Define cohorts and denominators. Track views, qualified audience signals, store traffic, installs, trials, paid customers, retention, acquisition cost, and payback. Report direct measurements separately from estimated attribution. [S2]

9. **Set economics and stopping rules.** Use [the economic decision rules](references/method.md#7-set-economic-decision-rules). Derive spending limits from the user's cash constraints and conservative customer value. Specify what evidence permits expansion, what merits a revision, and what stops further spending. Never substitute the expert's reported results for local thresholds. [S1][S2]

10. **Review and reallocate weekly.** Follow [the bottleneck matrix](references/method.md#8-review-bottlenecks-and-portfolio-value). Expand repeatable formats, revise weak execution or funnel stages, and stop uneconomic tests. Distinguish profitable trend exposure from durable investment, and transfer creator knowledge only where audience and storytelling fit. [S1][S2]

11. **Deliver and audit the memo.** Fill [the output template](templates/output-template.md), then run [the review checklist](checklists/review-checklist.md). Include assumptions, unresolved evidence, owners, and the next decision. Planning does not itself authorize contacting creators, publishing content, or spending money.
