# The Doctor Method

## When to use

Use this skill to draft or improve a sales post, contextual outreach message, discovery call plan, service recommendation, objection response, or follow-up. It suits coaches, consultants, and service sellers whose buyers need to understand a problem before choosing help. It also suits LinkedIn content that attracts attention without producing relevant conversations. The central sequence is credibility, diagnosis, a clear prescription, and follow-through. [S1][S2]

Apply the sequence at the buyer's current stage. A public post can describe a recognizable symptom and a possible explanation; it cannot establish an individual buyer's cause. A first message starts a conversation. A recommendation requires enough discovery to connect the proposed work to the buyer's actual situation. Deliver the asset requested rather than automatically expanding a post into a complete sales campaign.

This package paraphrases Moore's public guidance. Its fact labels, fit checks, and review gates are practical agent adaptations, identified in [references/method.md](references/method.md). Treat the doctor analogy as a sales framework, not medical advice. Prepare drafts and plans within the user's scope; publication, messaging, scheduling, and purchases require the authorization applicable to those actions.

## Procedure

1. **Locate the assignment in the buying journey.** Identify the requested asset, channel, intended buyer, relationship stage, and next meaningful action. Use the mode selection in [references/method.md](references/method.md#1-select-the-mode). Avoid demanding a call when the assignment only calls for opening a conversation.

2. **Build a factual buyer picture.** Separate supplied facts from assumptions and missing information. Capture the observable symptom, desired outcome, previous attempts, and constraints using [templates/output-template.md](templates/output-template.md). Ask only for information that would materially change the output; otherwise make assumptions visible.

3. **Choose a buyer-relevant opening.** Use the audience and language rules in [references/method.md](references/method.md#2-understand-the-buyer). Replace insider jargon and seller achievements with a situation the buyer recognizes. Check the post illustration in [examples/worked-examples.md](examples/worked-examples.md).

4. **Establish credible authority.** Select relevant reasoning, an approved case, or verified experience. Follow the evidence rules in [references/method.md](references/method.md#3-establish-credible-authority). If proof is unavailable, explain the diagnostic approach without inventing outcomes or testimonials.

5. **Start or continue the conversation appropriately.** For outreach, reference an actual context signal and ask a useful question. For an engaged buyer, propose a suitable deeper discussion. Use [references/method.md](references/method.md#4-create-content-and-open-conversations) to distinguish a low-pressure invitation from a premature pitch.

6. **Diagnose before recommending.** Ask about the current pattern, attempted fixes, consequences, desired change, and relevant constraints. Distinguish symptom from possible cause using [references/method.md](references/method.md#5-diagnose-and-confirm). For a call plan, write questions and conditional branches rather than fabricated answers.

7. **Confirm understanding and fit.** Summarize the buyer's account, invite correction, and test whether the seller can address the likely cause. Apply the uncertainty and no-fit rules in [references/method.md](references/method.md#6-prescribe-a-clear-course). If facts remain insufficient, recommend a bounded diagnostic step.

8. **Prescribe a primary course.** Connect the recommendation to the evidence, buyer outcome, scope, first action, and prerequisites. Use the recommendation fields in [templates/output-template.md](templates/output-template.md). Explain genuine alternatives through conditions rather than handing the buyer an unexplained menu.

9. **Resolve the actual concern.** When there is hesitation, listen and clarify before answering or changing price. Use [references/method.md](references/method.md#7-handle-objections-without-defensiveness) and the consultation illustration in [examples/worked-examples.md](examples/worked-examples.md). Respect a refusal or a genuine budget constraint.

10. **Make the next step and follow-through concrete.** Specify who acts, what happens, and how progress will be checked. Match personal assistance or automation to the buyer and offer using [references/method.md](references/method.md#8-follow-through-and-improve). Do not invent an agreement to reconnect.

11. **Review, repair, and deliver.** Run [checklists/review-checklist.md](checklists/review-checklist.md), revise failed items, and provide the requested asset with only the supporting notes needed. Retain unresolved limits visibly; judge success through qualified conversations and outcomes rather than applause alone. [S2][S3]
