# GitHub Commit Streak

A streak is proof of flight hours: shipping something every day. This skill measures it honestly and fixes the reasons real work goes uncounted. It does not create empty or fake commits.

## Step 1. Measure

It prints total contributions in the last year, current streak, longest streak, zero days in the last 30, average per day, and the daily pace needed to hit the goal by the date.

## Step 2. Why commits are missing

Check in this order and report which applies:
1. Author email: `git log -1 --format=%ae` must be an email verified on the GitHub account, or the account's noreply address `ID+login@users.noreply.github.com`. Fix with `git config user.email`.
2. Branch: only commits on the default branch (or `gh-pages`) count.
3. Forks: commits in a fork count only after they are merged upstream.
4. Private repos: count only if "Private contributions" is enabled on the profile.
5. Date: the graph uses the commit author date in UTC offset of the commit.

## Step 3. A streak plan built on real output

Suggest a small daily unit that ships value, for example:
- one improved example, test or doc section in a skill repo,
- one measured data snapshot (traffic, KPI) committed by a scheduled job,
- one bug fix from the issue list,
- one article draft in the website repo.

Batch big work into several meaningful commits instead of one giant commit. Never suggest empty commits or date-faked commits; they break trust the moment someone opens the repo.

## Step 4. Protect the streak

Set a reminder at a fixed hour. If the day's count is still 0 two hours before midnight, run the smallest real task from the list above.
