# Insurance Agent — Coverage-Gap Premortem
> **Industry front door for [premortem](../premortem/SKILL.md).** Adds domain triggers, example, packs. Parent Process unchanged.
> **Not legal/coverage advice.**
**Activate when:** placing or reviewing coverage; annual policy review; a client with growing assets/liability; protecting against an uncovered-claim + E&O event.
**Do NOT activate when:** no coverage decision in play.
## Why this variant
The parent [premortem](../premortem/SKILL.md) imagines the failure and works backward. In insurance the failure is a **denied/underpaid claim because of a gap** — which harms the client and exposes the agent to an E&O suit. Premortem finds the gaps while they're still fixable.
## Domain inputs → the parent's Process
Imagine a claim was denied/underpaid — why?
- Limits too low (dwelling underinsured, liability under net worth) → recommend umbrella.
- Exclusions bite (flood, earthquake, business-use, water backup) not disclosed/added.
- Coverage type wrong (ACV vs replacement cost).
- Life changes not reflected (new business, teen driver, home addition, rental).
- Document every recommendation the client declined (E&O defense).
## Worked example
Client's net worth grew to $2M; still on minimum auto liability, no umbrella.
→ Premortem: an at-fault accident exceeds limits → personal assets exposed + "why didn't my agent tell me" E&O claim. Recommend umbrella now; if declined, document the offer and rejection.
## Packs
- **Solo agent**: annual coverage-gap review checklist by life stage.
- **Agency**: umbrella/limit-adequacy sweep of the book; documented declines.
## Red flags
- Liability limits below client net worth; no umbrella offered.
- Common exclusions never discussed.
- Declined recommendations undocumented.
## Verification
- [ ] Limits stress-tested vs assets/exposure
- [ ] Key exclusions reviewed and addressed/disclosed
- [ ] Coverage type (RC vs ACV) confirmed
- [ ] Life changes reflected; declined recs documented
