# Script Revision Pass

Use when a complete draft exists and needs systematic improvement.

## Procedure
1. Reconfirm audience, objective, format, duration, production constraints, and the draft's intended emotional or informational arc.
2. Perform a structural pass first: remove redundant beats, fix missing setup or payoff, reorder confusing information, and ensure each scene or section changes something.
3. Perform a clarity and factual pass: verify claims, simplify jargon, resolve ambiguous references, and correct continuity.
4. Perform a character or voice pass where applicable, checking intention, subtext, distinction, and speakability.
5. Perform a visual or production pass: move information from narration into visuals where stronger and flag scenes, effects, locations, or assets whose cost exceeds their value.
6. Perform a timing pass by reading or playing the script at realistic speed and trim beats that overrun or drag.
7. Perform a line-economy pass last, tightening wording without flattening rhythm, emotion, humor, or necessary explanation.
8. Compare the revised draft to the objective and record any unresolved production or story decision for the correct owner.

## Decision rules
- Fix structure before polishing lines.
- Different passes ask different questions and prevent local edits from hiding larger problems.
- Shorter is not automatically stronger when timing needs emotion or comprehension.
- Production feasibility can influence writing without replacing creative intent.

## Quality gate
The revision is complete when structure and payoff work before line polish, claims and continuity are accurate, voice or tone remains intentional, duration fits the format, visuals carry appropriate information, and unresolved problems are clearly separated from finished prose.
