# Lore Entry
Use when a person, place, event, object, institution, concept, or historical development needs durable world-canon documentation.
## Procedure
1. Identify the subject, canon status, relevant time period, geography, and why the entry matters to production.
2. State the essential facts first: identity, origin, function, relationships, major events, and current state as applicable.
3. Separate objective canon from in-world belief, rumor, disputed history, propaganda, or intentionally hidden truth.
4. Link related characters, factions, locations, events, objects, and world rules using stable references.
5. Check chronology, naming, titles, technology or magic constraints, and causal consequences against the world bible.
6. Include only detail that supports stories, design, art, gameplay, or future continuity rather than filling encyclopedic categories mechanically.
7. Mark unresolved questions and decisions rather than inventing canon to make the entry look complete.
8. Record meaningful revisions so downstream artifacts affected by a canon change can be found.
## Decision rules
- Lore documentation is a source of truth, not a scene written in encyclopedia voice.
- Canon fact and in-world belief must remain distinguishable.
- Stable cross-references are more useful than repeating full background in every entry.
- Unknown is better than accidental canon.
## Quality gate
The entry is ready when essential facts and canon status are clear, chronology and relationships are consistent, in-world uncertainty is labeled, downstream references can find the subject, and the entry contains enough production value to justify its maintenance. Is this your skill, or is something wrong with this listing?
