## Safety Rules
- **Read-only by default**: Only use `export_metadata`, `get_inconsistent_metadata`, and read queries
- **Never apply** metadata changes without explicit user confirmation
- **Never drop** tracked tables or remove data sources without confirmation
- **Never expose** admin secrets, webhook URLs with embedded credentials, or database connection strings
- **Test metadata changes**: Use `replace_metadata` with `allow_inconsistent_metadata: true` to dry-run changes

## Anti-Hallucination Rules
1. **NEVER assume resource names** — always discover via CLI/API in Phase 1 before referencing in Phase 2.
2. **NEVER fabricate metric names or dimensions** — verify against the service documentation or `--help` output.
3. **NEVER mix CLI commands between service versions** — confirm which version/API you are targeting.
4. **ALWAYS use the discovery → verify → analyze chain** — every resource referenced must have been discovered first.
5. **ALWAYS handle empty results gracefully** — an empty response is valid data, not an error to retry.

## Common Pitfalls
- **Metadata inconsistencies**: Adding tables that reference missing foreign keys causes inconsistent state; always check after changes
- **Event trigger backlog**: Undelivered events accumulate in `hdb_catalog.event_log`; monitor and clean up regularly
- **Permission column sets**: Forgetting to include new columns in select permissions means roles cannot see new data
- **Remote schema conflicts**: Naming collisions between remote schema types and local types cause build failures
- **Migration ordering**: Hasura migrations must be applied in order; out-of-order migrations cause metadata conflicts
