# Model REST resources without leaking internals (GraphQL flavor)

> Design stable resource-oriented endpoints with deliberate error contracts and pagination.

**Track:** ⚙️ Backend Engineering · **Domain:** API Design · **Level:** foundation · **~30 min**

**Who this is for:** Backend Engineers, API Developers, Platform Engineers, Full-Stack Developers

## When to Use This Skill

Design stable resource-oriented endpoints with deliberate error contracts and pagination.
Use it whenever a matching task appears in conversation — the agent loads these instructions on demand.

## Steps

1. List nouns (resources) from the domain; map verbs to HTTP methods
2. Pluralize collections; nest at most one level for ownership
3. Standardize errors as {code, message, details} with correct status codes
4. Paginate every collection by cursor; never offset past 10k rows
5. Version in the URL path from v1; document deprecation policy
6. Publish an OpenAPI spec and generate clients from it
7. Schema-first types; expose one query root per aggregate
8. Enforce depth and complexity limits; disable introspection in prod if needed

## Common Pitfalls

- RPC-in-disguise endpoints like /getUserData
- Leaking column names and internal IDs in payloads

## Commands

**Install with skills CLI**

```
**Install globally**
```bash
npx skills add aniruddhaadak80/skills --skill api-design-rest-resource-modeling-graphql -g
```
Hyperplan
Adversarial multi-agent planning skill. Self-orchestrates 5 hostile category members (unspecified-low, unspecified-high, deep, ultrabrain, artistry) via team-mode for ruthless cross-critique debate, distills only the defensible insights, then MANDATORILY hands the distilled insight bundle to the `plan` agent for executable plan formalization. Use when planning needs maximum rigor and surfacing of weak assumptions, blind spots, and over-engineering. Triggers: 'hyperplan', 'hpp', '/hyperplan', ...
catchup
Recovers the conversation and failed tool calls of a previous Codex, Amp, Claude Code, Antigravity, Cline, Copilot CLI, Cursor, DeepSeek Harness, Grok Build, Kimi, OpenCode, Pi Agent, or ZCode session. Use when the user says "catch up", "what did the last session do", "get me up to speed", "I switched agents", asks to recover/summarize a previous session before continuing, or asks to diagnose or report a catchup failure. Do NOT use for the current conversation, git history, or any non-agent log.
