## Overview

Skywork (Kunlun Tech) releases open bilingual models positioned for practical
deployment — efficient sizes, bilingual Chinese-English capability, and a
focus on models that are actually deployable rather than maximally large.
The positioning is pragmatic: good capability at sizes teams can afford to
run.

For builders, Skywork is a candidate in efficient bilingual evaluations —
particularly when deployment economics matter and you want options beyond the
most-discussed families. As always with lesser-known families: benchmark on
your tasks; don't rely on reputation (in either direction).

The practical stance: include Skywork when you're surveying efficient
bilingual options. The evaluation is cheap; the information is valuable.

## When to use

- Efficient bilingual deployment where model size affects economics.
- Broad bilingual open-model surveys (don't skip lesser-known families).
- Cost-sensitive Chinese-English applications.
- Fine-tuning efficient bilingual bases.
- Self-hosting where smaller capable models win.

## Core concepts

- **Efficiency positioning**: models sized for practical deployment. Test
whether the efficiency claims hold on your tasks.
- **Bilingual capability**: Chinese-English. Per-language evals.
- **Deployment-friendly sizes**: the practical focus — validate serving
  costs at your volume.
- **Open weights**: downloadable; verify licensing per release.
- **Standard stacks**: common inference frameworks and provider APIs —
  verify hosting for specific releases.
- **Reasoning variants**: check for specialized versions (math, reasoning)
  matching your tasks.
- **Release tracking**: newer families evolve quickly; evaluate current
  releases, not first impressions.
- **Peer context**: the value is relative — always benchmark against known
  alternatives.

## Practical workflow

1. **Survey current releases.** Identify the current recommended models and
   variants.
2. **Benchmark against efficient peers.** Skywork vs. Qwen small, Gemma,
Phi, Llama small — on your bilingual eval set.
3. **Validate efficiency claims.** Measure actual serving cost/latency at
   your volume vs. alternatives.
4. **Test your languages.** Per-language quality on your real tasks.
5. **Check licensing and hosting.** Terms per release; provider availability
   for your deployment plan.
6. **Right-size.** Ladder-test within the family.
7. **Pin and revisit.** Version pins; re-survey as the family evolves.

Checklist for Skywork in production:
- Current releases identified and benchmarked vs. efficient peers.
- Serving economics validated at your volume.
- Per-language quality confirmed.
- License verified; hosting confirmed.
- Re-evaluation cadence set.

## Common pitfalls

- **Reputation-based dismissal.** Skipping lesser-known families without
testing. Benchmarks are cheap; blind spots are expensive.
- **Reputation-based adoption.** The reverse — adopting on marketing without
  peer comparison.
- **Efficiency assumed.** "Efficient" positioning without measuring your
  serving costs vs. alternatives.
- **Stale evaluation.** Judging the family by early releases.
- **No peer benchmarks.** Evaluating in isolation.
- **License/hosting unchecked.** Assuming availability and terms.
- **Single-language testing.** For bilingual use, test both.
- **Static decision.** Not re-surveying as efficient-model options evolve.

Adversarial multi-agent planning skill. Recovers the conversation and failed tool calls of a previous Codex, Amp, Claude Code, Antigravity, Cline, Copilot CLI, Cursor, DeepSeek Harness, Grok Build, Kimi, OpenCode, Pi Agent, or ZCode session. Use when the user says "catch up", "what did the last session do", "get me up to speed", "I switched agents", asks to recover/summarize a previous session before continuing, or asks to diagnose or report a catchup failure. Do NOT use for the current conversation, git history, or any non-agent log.
