# Book to Mentor

Book to Mentor turns a book or long-form document into a dedicated learning mentor instead of producing a one-off summary. The upstream project provides a tested Agent Skill, Python utilities, reusable templates, and installation metadata for Codex, Claude Code, OpenClaw, and other Agent Skills-compatible runtimes. It extracts and indexes source material, creates a scoped mentor skill, and supports short lessons, source-grounded explanations, guided exercises, review sessions, and persistent progress records. Use it when a learner wants to study from a specific PDF, EPUB, Markdown document, or text collection over time. The workflow keeps explanations tied to the supplied source and clearly labels interpretation, which makes it useful for technical books, professional training material, and structured self-study. Full scripts, documentation, privacy notes, and issue-based feedback are maintained in the upstream repository.

## Installation

### OpenClaw

```bash
clawhub install book-to-mentor
```

### Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and compatible agents

```bash
npx skills add gengwenhao/book-to-mentor
```

### Claude Code marketplace

```bash
claude plugin marketplace add gengwenhao/book-to-mentor
claude plugin install book-to-mentor@gengwenhao-skills
```

## Example

Attach a book file and ask: “Turn this book into a mentor skill, then start with a 15-minute lesson and one practical exercise.”

Hyperplan

Adversarial multi-agent planning skill. Self-orchestrates 5 hostile category members (unspecified-low, unspecified-high, deep, ultrabrain, artistry) via team-mode for ruthless cross-critique debate, distills only the defensible insights, then MANDATORILY hands the distilled insight bundle to the `plan` agent for executable plan formalization. Use when planning needs maximum rigor and surfacing of weak assumptions, blind spots, and over-engineering. Triggers: 'hyperplan', 'hpp', '/hyperplan', ...

catchup

Recovers the conversation and failed tool calls of a previous Codex, Amp, Claude Code, Antigravity, Cline, Copilot CLI, Cursor, DeepSeek Harness, Grok Build, Kimi, OpenCode, Pi Agent, or ZCode session. Use when the user says "catch up", "what did the last session do", "get me up to speed", "I switched agents", asks to recover/summarize a previous session before continuing, or asks to diagnose or report a catchup failure. Do NOT use for the current conversation, git history, or any non-agent log.
