## Workflow
Map the AI data flow, classify each boundary, enumerate abuse cases, select preventive and detective controls, then verify tenant isolation, output handling, logging, and failure behavior with adversarial tests.
## Quality Standards
Findings name the affected boundary, attack path, impact, control, and verification evidence. Never claim prompt injection is eliminated; document residual risk and keep privileged actions behind deterministic authorization.

## The LLM Security Threat Model
AI features introduce attack surfaces that traditional AppSec tools do not cover:

## Defence 1: Prompt Injection Prevention
### Structural Separation
Never concatenate user input directly into system prompts.

## Defence 2: PII Scrubbing Before API Calls
Personal data MUST NOT be sent to external AI APIs unless:
- The data subject has consented (DPPA 2019, S.6)
- A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is in place with the AI provider
- The data is anonymised or pseudonymised before transmission

**Rule:** Run `PIIScrubber::scrub()` on all user-supplied text and injected database fields before constructing the AI request. Log what was scrubbed (not the values — just the field names) to the audit log.

## Defence 3: Output Validation and Sanitisation
Never trust AI output. Validate before storing or displaying.

**Never:**
- Render AI output with `innerHTML` / `{!! $output !!}` without sanitisation.
- Execute AI-generated code or SQL strings.
- Store AI output as trusted data without validation.

## Defence 4: Rate Limiting AI Endpoints
AI calls are expensive. Rate limiting protects against both abuse and runaway costs.

**Do not log plaintext prompts or responses** — log only hashes and metadata. This prevents the audit log itself from becoming a data leakage vector.

Before any AI feature uses a data field, classify it:

## Capability contract
Default to read-only threat analysis. Adversarial execution, provider calls, retrieval poisoning, and tool probes require isolated data, explicit scope, budgets, and stop controls.

## Domain anti-patterns
- Treating the system prompt as a security boundary. Fix: enforce policy outside the model.
- Filtering only direct user prompts. Fix: inspect retrieved and tool-supplied content.
- Sharing vector or memory namespaces across tenants. Fix: enforce tenant isolation at storage and query layers.
- Passing raw model output to actions. Fix: validate schema, authority, and business rules.
- Red-teaming without permanent regression cases. Fix: add every confirmed exploit to CI evaluation.
