# Dependency Management & Versioning
## Overview
Proper dependency management is crucial in software development to maintain consistent build environments and ensure that projects can scale and be managed effectively. ## When to Use

## Core Workflow
1. **Initialize Your Project**
Start by creating a package manifest using your preferred package manager (e.g., npm, yarn).

2. **Add Dependencies**
Utilize your package manager to add dependencies, specifying version requirements using SemVer conventions.

```
3. **Manage Dependency Versions**
Use SemVer to specify versions according to three segments: major, minor, and patch (MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH). This allows for clear communication of updates:

- **Minor changes** (e.g., `1.1.0` to `1.2.0`) add functionality without breaking changes.

4. **Lock Dependencies**
Always generate a lock file to capture the exact versions of all dependencies. This ensures that the same versions are installed across all environments.

5. **Updating Dependencies**
Regularly check for dependency updates to avoid security vulnerabilities. Most package managers provide commands to help perform updates safely.

6. **Commit Changes**
