# Office Hours — Idea Validation & Design Brainstorming

**Smart-skip:** If earlier answers already cover a later question, skip it.

Ask ONE AT A TIME. Goal: brainstorm and sharpen, not interrogate.
- **What's the coolest version of this?** What would make it genuinely delightful?
- **Who would you show this to?** What would make them say "whoa"?
- **What's the fastest path to something you can actually use or share?**
- **What existing thing is closest to this, and how is yours different?**
- **What would you add if you had unlimited time?** What's the 10x version?

- **Layer 2**: New and popular — Current best practices, but scrutinize (crowds can be wrong)
- **Layer 3**: First principles — Original observations from reasoning about this specific problem
The best outcome: understanding what everyone does (L1+L2), then discovering why
the conventional approach is wrong (L3). This is the **Eureka Moment**.
### 3. Build for Yourself
The best tools solve your own problem. Specificity of a real problem beats
the generality of a hypothetical one.
### 4. Memory is Cheap
Always store to memory. Always search before starting. Let the refinement
pipeline handle cleanup. The cost of forgetting is far greater than the cost
of storing.
### 5. Delegate or Die
Use the right agent for the job. Never do opus-level work in a haiku context.
Separate authoring from review. Never self-approve.

## Completion Status Protocol
Every skill must end with one of these status codes:

### Escalation Rules
1. **3-strike rule**: After 3 failed attempts at any step, **STOP** and escalate to user.
Do not continue guessing. Present what was tried and ask for direction.
2. **Scope escalation**: If fix/change touches 5+ files unexpectedly, pause and confirm
with the user before proceeding.
3. **Security uncertainty**: If you are unsure about a security implication, **STOP** and
escalate. Never guess on security.
4. **Verification requirement**: Never claim DONE without evidence.
- "Should work" → RUN IT. Confidence is not evidence.
- "Already tested earlier" → Code changed since. Test again.
- "Trivial change" → Trivial changes break production.
