# Syncro MSP Asset Management

## Overview

Syncro assets represent the hardware, software, and devices you manage for customers. Assets integrate with Syncro's built-in RMM capabilities for monitoring, patch management, and remote access. This skill covers asset tracking, RMM integration, and inventory management.

## Anti-triggers

- **Running a script on the asset** — the `run_script` endpoint is
  documented here, but the routing decision matters more than the
  request shape: "run a script on this machine" matches `atera-agents`,
  `superops-runbooks`, `immybot-script-execution`,
  `ncentral-monitoring-tasks`, `connectwise-automate-scripts`, and
  `datto-rmm-jobs` equally well. Confirm the endpoint is Syncro-managed
  before executing anything.
- **An "asset" that is a documentation record** — in `hudu-assets` and
  `itglue-configurations` an asset is a documented CI with no agent.
  Syncro assets are live RMM endpoints.
- **Hardware refresh programmes** — Syncro stores `warranty_expires` but
  does no lifecycle planning; use `scalepad-lifecycle-manager`.

## Key Concepts

### Asset

A tracked device or piece of equipment for a customer.

### Asset Types

Common asset type classifications:

### RMM Properties

When RMM agent is installed, additional data is collected:

## RMM Integration

### Agent Status Indicators

Syncro provides built-in remote access for managed assets:

- **Remote Desktop** - Full screen control
- **Remote Shell** - Command line access
- **File Transfer** - Upload/download files
- **Remote Tools** - Task manager, services, etc.

## Common Workflows

### Asset Deployment

1. **Create asset record**
   - Enter hardware details
   - Set customer association
   - Document serial/warranty

2. **Deploy RMM agent**
   - Generate installer
   - Install on device
   - Verify check-in

3. **Configure monitoring**
   - Set up alerts
   - Configure patch policy
   - Enable remote access

4. **Document in notes**
   - Location/user
   - Special configurations
   - Important contacts

### Asset Audit

1. **Export asset list** for customer
2. **Compare to physical inventory**
3. **Update records** for discrepancies
4. **Flag for decommission** as needed
5. **Report to customer** with findings

### Warranty Tracking

1. **Set warranty expiration** dates
2. **Create reports** for expiring warranties
3. **Notify customers** before expiration
4. **Assist with renewals** or replacements

### Decommissioning

## Error Handling

### Common API Errors

### Validation Errors

**"customer_id is required"** - Asset must belong to a customer

**"name is required"** - Asset must have a name

**"Invalid asset_type"** - Use valid asset type string
