## Smith's Market Framework
Adam Smith revealed how markets coordinate millions of individual decisions without central direction. The key concepts:
### Natural Price vs. Market Price
**Natural Price:** The price that just covers the costs of production—paying labor its natural wage, land its natural rent, and capital its natural profit. This is the "central price, to which the prices of all commodities are continually gravitating."
**Market Price:** The actual price at any moment, determined by the current balance of supply and demand. May be above, below, or equal to natural price.
**The Gravitational Mechanism:**
- If market price > natural price: Profits are high, new suppliers enter, supply increases, price falls
- If market price < natural price: Losses occur, suppliers exit, supply decreases, price rises
