# webworker-file-access-enabling
## Summary
Enable local file access for WebWorker and WebAssembly modules in desktop browsers by modifying browser-specific security policies. This skill is essential when running web applications locally (via file:// protocol) that depend on Web Workers or WebAssembly components, which are blocked by default cross-origin policies.
## When to use

## How to apply
Identify which browser you are using (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari) and apply the corresponding configuration change: (1) For Chrome, add the --allow-file-access-from-files flag to the executable target in the application shortcut properties and restart the browser. (2) For Firefox, navigate to about:config, search for security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy, and set it to false. (3) For Safari, enable 'Show Develop menu in menu bar' in Advanced settings, then click Develop menu and select 'Disable Local File Restrictions.' After configuration, load index.html locally and verify that WebWorker and WebAssembly components initialize without errors. Note that these modifications reduce browser security; only use them with trusted local files.
